LINCS©ODRL is designed to identify a baseline profile of leadership effectiveness in complex contexts with a view to developing specific interventions that would enhance leadership impact and influence in the medium/long term.

We have recently conducted the LINCS®ODRL in a large complex and global organisation. The findings of the survey provided a succinct perspective of leadership strengths and gaps. The study helped to identify value-added learning and development programmes as outlined below:

Teamworking and Collaboration

Findings of the survey indicated an overriding need to build and sustain effective Teamworking practices to include leaders’ capacity to build alliances externally, work with cross-functional teams, facilitate discussions and influence others, build high performing teams, share information and leverage on diversity.

Performance Management and Recognising Talent

The study suggested that leaders need to recognise the talents and achievements of staff in a fair and open manner. At the same time, they need to address the issue of poor performance such that the team climate is not negatively affected. Based on the findings of this survey, leaders also need to be more effective in coaching, delegating and empowering their direct reports.

Strategic Thinking

This entailed developing the analytical skills of leaders to ensure that they are able to conceptualise problems, gather accurate information and synthesise information such that they are able to develop practical action plans owned by the teams.

Change Management

As the context within which leaders operate is both complex and ever changing, having the skills and capabilities to continually change and adapt will no doubt be critical.

Decision-Making

The findings of the survey indicated that leadership effectiveness could be enhanced by developing skills and confidence levels of leaders in decision-making in the context of complexity of operations.

Conflict Management

In order to deal with difficult interpersonal situations leaders’ effectiveness will be enhanced significantly through well-developed conflict management skills to include assertion, influence and impact.

Emotional Intelligence

In order to lead and influence effectively, leadership development activities using emotional intelligence would help to enhance self-awareness, self management, interpersonal skills and relationship management skills of leaders.

We will be pleased to discuss this further with you to meet your organisation’s specific needs.
